Hello and welcome. My name is Rachel Tuck and I am a qualified counsellor working in and around Worcester, Worcestershire. I am an accredited member of the BACP and I specialise in counselling for bereavement and loss.
What is Counselling?
Counselling is a form of psychological or talking therapy that gives people a chance to change how they feel and help them move forward through their issues. Counselling is not a quick-fix solution; it takes time and effort and a willingness to be open and honest. How long you come to counselling for depends largely on yourself. Some clients find that 5 or 6 sessions are sufficient, others come for a number of months and some prefer long-term therapy.
Bereavement Counselling in Worcester
Bereavement will affect everyone at sometime in their life and your family and friends may be there to help you during the grieving process. However, they may be grieving too and often people find that their family and friends are enough support for the first few weeks, but after a couple of months there may come a time when they feel free to continue on with their own lives. This is when you may find you need additional help from a counsellor in coping and in coming to terms with your loss.
Your loss maybe recent or many years may have passed, but the loss may still affect your wellbeing. Bereavement may also bring up other issues you have been dealing with and I am happy to help you through these too.

Grief and Loss Counselling
I also help people though other forms grief. Grief is a natural response to loss. It’s the emotional suffering you feel when something or someone you love is taken away. Most people associate grief with the death of a loved one but any loss can cause grief, including:

The more significant the loss to you, the more intense your feelings of grief. However, even subtle losses can lead to grief. For example, you might experience grief after moving away from home, changing jobs, selling your family home, or retiring from a career you loved. All these things may bring you to counselling.

I specialise in helping people who suffered complicated bereavement such as bereavement through suicide. Suicide is a tragic event with strong and complex emotional repercussions for its survivors. I volunteer with the charity SOBS www.uk-sobs.org.uk who run support groups for survivors of bereavement thorough suicide.
LGBT Bereavement
Losing a partner in the same gender relationship is every bit as devastating as losing a husband or wife and you will experience all the same feelings as the surviving partner of a marriage or other heterosexual partnership but sometimes you may not get the support you need because your sexuality.
